Ice Cream Sandwich (4.04) for Lenovo Ideapad K1 ROM

Last Updated: August 11th, 2012

Last week, official Ice Cream Sandwich was released for Lenovo Idepad K1, but without one valuable asset , the "Google Play Store" .  After the released developer by the name of khanning, took the release and added the Google Play Store in matters of hours and I posted that here on another post.  But still with that release from khanning, there was still another issue, with the compatibility issue of apps/games from the market not showing up.

Purpose of today's post, is to provide a update, and bring you Khanning ROM based on AOSP (Android Open Source Project).  I like to point out this release is not perfect and it will have issues, there be updates that will dress some of the issues along the way and I will keep this post up to date with newest release.  But if i ever fall behind you can always check main post of where releases are posted at via RootzWiki.  Check top of this post when it was last updated to see if i have update the post or not.

Android ICS 4.0.4

ClockworkMod Recovery

Google Apps

Rooted version includes Superuser and busybox

Video Camera face effects
Rotation Lock Switch (Software switch works)

Required Files:

Download either the rooted version or non rooted version.  If you get the rooted version, there is no extra step or instructions you need to follow to have your device rooted, it comes pre rooted. I recommend to get the "Rooted" version, makes doing everything else easy in the long run.

You have two options(pick one):

Option 1: If this is your first time, flashing this release and don't have ClockWorkMod

Option 2: If you already have flash last release and have ClockWorkMod.

Install these drivers, before you continue:

You need to boot into APX Mode, to boot into APX mode:
1. Power off
2. Connect your tablet to your PC (via USB)
3. Hold down the Vol - and the Vol +
4. While holding the Volume keys down(- and +), Power on
5. The display should go black, and both LED's on either side of the home button should light up. You are now in, APX mode.

1. Extract the (Rooted or Stock R1)  contents to a directory (download from above)
2a. If using Windows, double click the "flash-win.bat" file
2b. If using Linux, cd into the extracted directory and run either "sudo ./" or "./" from a root prompt

When running this BAT file, it will do all the hard work for you, ones finished you will have Ice Cream Sandwich on your device.   You can thank khanning for his hard work, making this happen in matter of hours after Lenovo staff released the ICS but without the most needed apps (Google Apps).

  1. Thank you so much for working on this. This is a really good version from what I can see after doing the install.

  2. I can't seem to download anything of this site. I would really like to finally update my tablet but every time I make some progress a new problem ruines everything. I just want to play hearthstone :''((
